
Restoration of the 7 tapestries
The tapestries of the basilica like the whole of the sanctuary are part of the heritage and are recognized for their value by the State.

They were made in the middle of the 20th century by Jean and Karine Barillet, upholsterers.

The five works located in the choir represent the popes encouraging the cult of the Three Ave Maria: Benedict XV, Leo XIII, Pius IX, Pius X and Pius XI.
They are 4.50 meters high and 2.85 meters wide.

The other two tapestries, larger (6.50 meters high and 4 meters wide) are in the aisles and represent passages from the Gospel of the Visitation and of the Samaritan woman.

These tapestries, still in good condition, however present "a very significant soiling, the colors are now grayish, the dust is encrusted in the weaving. The fibers are dehydrated."

The restoration of these monumental tapestries requires dusting by micro-suction, cleaning in an aqueous medium, re-sewing and checking of open relays as well as dubbing of a new canvas.
These operations were estimated by the Langlois company to
